Afternoon light & horses

We were driving down Loganlea Road last weekend & saw quite a few horses in a paddock off a side road, so thought the afternoon sun would be nice to capture a few photos. I loved this white horse with its blue eyes.

After being there a while taking photos of them about 20m away, they got inquisitive and came over to the fence for a pat.

Koala Bear

This cute Koala bear is a resident at the Daisy Hill Koala Centre here in Brisbane. He or perhaps she, was doing what Koalas do best….. sleep! Yep they sleep up to 20 hours a day…. but I’m not sure they the most comfortable place to sleep wedge in tree branches. This one was lucky as it has some sun warming him/her up.

Super moon

I went on a girl’s weekend away to Mt Tamborine with my wonderful friends Julie-Anne, Jacqui, Kirsty and Tracey, unfortunately Kathrine was unable to join us. We had such a wonderful time with so much giggling that I’m sure my face muscle are very well toned now.

We all have a passion for photography so luckily we found time to fit that in too. Our weekend just happened to have a few wonderful photo opportunities….. one of them being the Super Moon – the biggest full moon of 2012.

We found a property that gave a wonderful view toward the Gold Coast and the owners were only to happy to let us set up there.

It captures the lights of Surfers Paradise & I just love the moon light over the sea.

Having some gloomy weather while we are staying up at Caloundra for a couple of days. Thought I’d try for some shots through the day of SS Dicky since there was such heavy cloud cover.

I’ve been wanting to get this type of image of the shipwreck & at last may have achieved the over exposed look.

Tried playing with a different antique look as well.

Toogoolawah Rodeo

I joined my photography friends Julie-Anne, Kathrine (& Trevor) & Jacqui along with David & headed out to Toogoolawah on Saturday (April 21st). I haven’t been to a rodeo since I was a kid I think! Had a wonderful afternoon & night watching the cowboys & cowgirls roping cattle, riding bulls & bucking horses.

There were a few scary incidents with three riders but thankfully none were hurt badly.

I have so many photos to choose from but here is one horse & rider who came down the arena towards me

Yeeee haaaaa!!!!

What do you think of my first attempt to photograph at a rodeo?

Wynnum inlet

There is a little inlet at Wynnum along Waterloo Esplanade that has boats moored there, some I think for a lifetime the condition they are in! But this area has lots of character so I hope if they do rejuvenate the area as a local said was on the plans I hope they don’t loose the ‘historic’ look.

I captured a couple of the boats which become high & dry when the tide is out! To keep the ‘feel’ of the old boats these images have been processed in B&W.

I was happy I managed a few nice reflections too.

Manly Sunrise

These are a couple of shots from yesterday’s sunrise over Manly Boat Harbour. It was a little disappointing with not a lot of colour, but the clouds were really heavy along the horizon.
