Manly Boat Harbour Predawn

Went down to Manly boat harbour in the early hours of this morning.  All the boats in the harbour make for a nice scene if the sunrise is not so great, so it’s always a nice place to visit.

As it was Sunday today the Manly markets were also on, so we went for a stroll through them but unfortunately we were a little early as most were still setting up.

I’ll be back to share my actual sunrise photos although there wasn’t a lot of colour.

Thanks for stopping by,

Lorikeets at Bribie Island

Went up to Bribie Island yesterday & over to Banksia beach for sunset, however there was still heaps of daylight & so many lorikeets!  Many were elusive hiding in the trees but these two Rainbow lorikeets were up about 5m in this dead tree & I had to stand a distance away for the angle.  Love the late afternoon sunlight on them.

I’m really happy with my 70-300mm L f4-5.6 lens – but then again my new camera is pretty impressive!!! [squeal]

Ruffled feathers

I caught a shot of this cute Rainbow Lorikeet out the back in the neighbours tree through the week. I’m usually in a rush to get to work, but really wanted to try my new camera on a bird shot…… lol.  He was ruffling his feathers while soaking up some sunshine after having a feast on the flowers.  Although he was watching me ever so cautiously!!

Here he is a little more settled

This was him in action when he was hungry – but still cautious of me being out there!

Shot using my Canon 70-300mm L f4-5.6

These were shot at 300mm & are about a 25% crop of the original image – wow what an amazing lens!!!

Rhianna

We joined David’s family for an Easter breakfast today – Good Friday.

I tried taking some photos of little Rhianna who turned 2 a month ago.  She was pretending to be shy but with her Mummy Julia’s help she started running around laughing.

Dave helped with some processing & tried the “old style” look

Love this cheeky one playing at the clothes line

I just love her little outfit – isn’t it so pretty!!  Linda gave her this little jacket today…. being spoilt by her Aunty…. lol

Thanks for stopping by.

Brisbane night lights

We finally planned to do some city lights photography tonight after a late finish from work.  I guess one of the benefits of both David & I working in the city is we can do this on the way home.

I’ve been wanting to take some shots from under the Story Bridge at Captain Burke Park looking across the Brisbane River towards the city for ages, so tonight was the night.

I love the golden light off the Customs House.

Check back again to see some more images.

Thanks for stoppin’ by

Julie-Anne

I had some outdoor portrait practice today with the “model” being my wonderful photographer mentor Julie-Anne Smith.  She is always behind the camera lens so was great to have her infront of the lens for a change!

This is one of my favourite

But then again it could be this one

I’ll be back to share a few more tomorrow.

Thank you my wonderful friend Julie-Anne for your time & patients & most of all the knowledge you so willingly share with me….. luv ya!

Thanks for stopping by,

Run down old Queenslander – 2

Thought I’d share a few more images of the old run down queenslander that I posted the other day.

This one shows the other side of the house, see the verandah….. would have been such a grand home back in it’s day!  Even the poor old fence has seen better days :(

The home’s name – INGLESIDE

Many thanks to David for helping to process & prompting me to keep sharing my photos.

Thanks for stopping by.

Queen Mary 2

Last week I stopped for a quick look at the Queen Mary 2 while it was docked at the Port of Brisbane.  I had hoped to be there while it sailed into port but I didn’t manage to get there in time.

If you look closely you can see see a few boats near the ship – just showing how big it really is!

A close up of the funnel

There was a police boat patrolling & you can see how small it looks in this shot:

I’m wondering how many pools are out the back!

Now which life boat would you prefer to abandon ship in??  It would certainly be a long way down!  Ummm wouldn’t you love to be in one of those balcony cabins!!

Such a shame all these beautiful big ships have to dock at Fisherman Islands when our Cruise boat terminal is on the city side of the gateway bridges…… oops I mean Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges

Thanks for stopping by.

Colourless sunset over Hervey Bay

I was visiting my Mum in hospital after her knee replacement surgery recently & as I was in Hervey Bay I thought I’d race over to Scarness to get a sunset photo with the jetty in the foreground.  Well I obviously only visit this area while they are on holidays in Hervey Bay mid year, as I’ve always managed to get sunset over the water!!  But not so at this time of the year!!!!

Oh well it wasn’t really a colourful sunset either, but I like the light I captured on the clouds
